4.0 Software Use

4.1 Capabilities

The NextEnergy Fleet Processing Tool allows the user to evaluate fleets and compute their emissions and costs.  This is achieved by creating virtual fleets online by adding vehicles from a database to the fleet, providing information regarding these added vehicles, and setting fuel costs.  Users may also perform some analysis on the virtual fleet with the help of the "Sub-Fleet" feature.  This is done by adding vehicles from their virtual fleet to a sub group and view the percentage of emissions and costs of that group over the entire fleet.  The user may also save fleet information to a file on their machine and may load the file during another session in the future.

4.2 Conventions

Vehicle Naming Convention

The vehicles in the Fleet Processing Tool can have one of two formats.  The following table explains the format used for each list box in the web site:

Button Convention

Depending on the state of the session, buttons can have one of two appearances:

1) Active buttons on the web site have the following appearance (black text, lighter shade of orange):

2) Disabled buttons on the web site have the following appearance (white text, darker shade of orange):
(Example of a disabled button: when there are no vehicles in the fleet the "Remove Vehicle" button will be disabled.)

Link Convention

Depending on the state of the session, the navigation bar links can have one of two appearances:

1) Active links in the navigation bar have the following appearance (blue text, underlined when hovering over the link):

2) Disabled links on the web site have the following appearance (brown text):
(Example of a disabled link: when there is no fleet, the "Save" link will be disabled.)

Loading a Fleet

When attempting to load a fleet, the following is a list of possible messages that may appear:

Error Uploading File: Incorrect File Format: A problem exists in the first 9 lines of the file. The first nine lines in the file are the costs and units of the fuel types, one or more of these does not adhere to the format. No
Error Uploading File: Exceeded threshold of number of types of vehicles allowed in a fleet. Maximum is 50,000. The maximum number of vehicle types that may be added to a fleet is 50,000. No
Error Uploading File: Incorrect File Format: A problem exists on line <integer> The <integer> represents the line number in the file where the problem exists.  The number will be greater than or equal to 10 and the vehicle that is on that line does not adhere to the format. No

Entering Vehicle Details

When attempting to add a vehicle or update a vehicle's details, the following is a list of possible error messages that may appear:
