In April 2021, the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) launched the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform, which builds on the success of the PlanetM pilot and testing grants. The funding platform accelerates investment in mobility/electrification solutions and companies that expect both long-term growth in Michigan and participating in the state’s mobility ecosystem.
Michigan Mobility Platform
Between 2018 and 2020, NextEnergy helped to support $2.4 million in awards to 26 real-world deployment grants through the PlanetM Mobility Grant program. NextEnergy is excited to continue supporting the State of Michigan and its mobility-related efforts. NextEnergy will serve as the Michigan Mobility Funding Platform project manager and fiduciary. Our team of experienced professionals and technical experts will assist OFME and MDOT with promoting the program, reviewing applications, contracting with awardees, and driving meaningful outcomes for the program.
The Michigan Mobility Funding Platform seeks to provide outcomes in three key focus areas:
- Sustainable Futures: Improve environmental sustainability by encouraging electric vehicle (EV) adoption and EV charging infrastructure buildout.
- Equitable Futures: Alleviate mobility barriers and increase access to affordable and reliable transportation options.
- Multimodal Transportation: Modernize existing transportation systems and keep Michigan at the forefront across all connected and autonomous transportation modes.
