Jim Saber, President & CEO
As we head in to the busy holiday season, our team has been working hard to wrap up some long term projects and preparing for what’s next.
We are in the final stages of reporting on our LiTES Program, a three year public-private partnership with the DOE, DTE, Consumers Energy, and IBEW. The goal of this effort was to understand the potential impact of advanced/networked lighting control technologies within small to medium sized buildings. These buildings represent 90% of the commercial building stock in the US.
Over the course of the program, we deployed technology in 27 buildings which have seen on average, a 29% efficiency improvement. We trained approximately 100 contractors and installers, promoted the application at several conferences and workshops, and received feedback from dozens of participants in the value chain via surveys and interviews.
Look for detailed reports to be released on our website soon. For more information, please reach out to Nathalie Osborn, our director of smart grid initiatives.
Our team is also working with the city of Grosse Pointe Park, and the winner of our NextChallenge: Smart Cities Demonstration Grant Award, SmartCone, to deploy an intersection safety pilot by the end of this year. The AutoGuardian solution utilizes the latest sensors and IoT technology from TheSmartCone(TM) platform for advanced monitoring and threat detection systems with real-time visual and audio alerts to protect vulnerable road users. For more information on the pilot, please reach out to Wayne Snyder, our director of technology development.
