New $2.5 million initiative aims to curb energy waste

DETROIT – A new $2.5 million statewide initiative called LiTES is aiming to train electricians and contractors on advanced lighting control systems in a push to reduce energy usage. The main part of the initiative is 15-20 training sessions focused on the education and deployment of the lighting technology, which includes dimmers, occupancy sensors, photo sensors, relay modules and communication-based control devices.
