Civionics provides intelligent wireless sensor networks for facility management and equipment monitoring applications that demand real-time, high-impact actionable information for improved decision-making. Civionics products include Constellation Nodes, Cloud Gate, and Decision Workshop. Constellation Nodes are intelligent sensors that function as the hub of the Civionics System. Constellation Nodes collect and process data from the environment, including temperature, shock/vibration, and humidity, among other data. They then relay data to the Cloud Gate, which is a cloud-based system that stores the gathered data and provides it to customers in a ready-to-access form. Decision Workshop is a package of both embedded and cloud-based algorithms that provide customized analytics and can predict equipment failure based on collected data. Within the past decade Civionics products have been used on long-span bridges, wind turbines, naval combatant vessels, and theater balconies.

Through our research, development and demonstration programs, NextEnergy provided a demonstration site for Civionics to test and improve the sensor network technology. Civionics monitored and gathered data on temperature and humidity at the NextEnergy Center. The NextEnergy team also helped Civonics identify the company’s next steps in technology commercialization by conducting technology vetting, convening a market strategy session, and reviewing market assessments.
