Welcome Bill!

By Posted on March 24, 2022

We are pleased to announce that Bill Siddall recently joined the NextEnergy team as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Bill has led private companies specializing in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, product development, as well as planning and business development and sales. Bill is also NextEnergy alumni—he was the Director of Microgrid Projects ten years ago.

He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Bill has traveled the world as a naval officer, but was raised in West Michigan and is happy to make Michigan his home.

Your background spans different areas of business.  Why have you come back to NextEnergy?

I have an operations mindset and enjoy developing technology that improves the quality of life for all of us. While I have lead the design of technology energy and mobility, I have found I enjoy understanding the user experience and working on teams that launch new technology in a way that is useful to people. NextEnergy’s mission is exactly that, and I am excited to be able to advance that mission.

What are you most looking forward to in your role at NextEnergy?

This role at NextEnergy is pivotal for the company and for me personally. NextEnergy’s mission is to demonstrate the impact and drive the pace of technology to improve emissions for Michiganders. It is also my first time in the COO seat, so it is a personal mission to bring growth to NextEnergy.

What are the most interesting developments that you see these days?

The need to migrate to zero-carbon-emission solutions for energy creation and consumptions is obvious. The best ways to achieve net-zero emissions are what needs to be developed and demonstrated to best understand how everyone’s lives will be impacted. Battery-based energy storage, new electric motor development, electric vehicle to grid connection and the role of hydrogen in decarbonizing our economy are just some of what is coming our way.
