In May 2018, Project Kinetic, a unique collaboration between the public, private and philanthropic sectors, was formed to tackle mobility related challenges and opportunities in Detroit. One of these opportunities, ChargeD, was conceived as an electric vehicle hub with fast-charging stations in multiple downtown Detroit parks. In June 2019, NextEnergy began working with the City of Detroit, PlanetM, DTE, General Motors, Quicken Loans Community Fund, Blue Energy, and the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) on ways to activate these downtown parks and their new EV infrastructure.
