In September of 2018, Delta, a global provider of power and thermal management solutions, announced that it had commenced work on a trend-setting U.S. Department of Energy research program to develop an extreme fast EV charger with industry-leading capacity up to 400 kW to provide capable EVs a 180-mile range with less than 10 minutes of charging. NextEnergy is excited to be part of the team that also includes General Motors LLC, DTE Energy, CPES Virginia Tech, the Michigan Agency for Energy’s Energy Office and the City of Detroit’s Office of Sustainability.
The microgrid, located at our offices, will be retrofitted to test the charging station at multiple input voltages and varying loads. The charging station will also be networked with our custom building management system, allowing us to simulate vehicle-to-grid (V2G) scenarios.
